I'm very interested in fashion, beyond wearing items at local stores from day to day. What I love is the artistic venture involved in creating and wearing different pieces, whether it's shoes, shorts, dresses, etc.
In saying that, my musings tend to deal with couture and high fashion, or high end labels. Thus there is no way I have a Carrie Bradshaw shoe closet. But even then, I only own a couple of pairs of tshirts and two pairs of jeans, and some meager tops and jackets.
I do have around 20 pairs of shoes, generally the most "creative" heels found in mass-production stores, or high-fashion inspired shoes.
In college, I will update my wardrobe to reflect my tastes and personalities. But I lack the income and ability to even make the most minor changes right now.
My sense of style, not reflected in my day-to-day wear?
I hate horizontal lines, and I love clean lines and designs. I love bright colors, but I tend to stick with versatile earth tones, pastels, and pale shades. Dresses are my favorite pieces of clothing, followed by heels. I am not a big fan of accessories, but I love sunglasses and I will have a collection of them when I get older.
I also do not like a lot of layering or wearing many things- I prefer understated elegance and feminine styles. Minimal design is amazing to me, be it art, architecture, or an evening gown.
As far as my taste goes, the cut of the clothing should be well-fitting. I have an hourglass figure- especially top heavy, so I can't wear a lot of things that are in the market. I have some weight loss goals as I have gotten out of shape since junior year(now I am a senior), but that's just something I should say.
I do love curvy figures, and clothes that reflect that in a classy way are great.
I also enjoy vintage inspired clothing, not those in the boho vein, but classic cuts, prints, and designs.
My taste is a little bit of everything, because while I see the universality of a little shift dress, small designers and labels with punky and edgy designs are my second home. I love quirky dress, and I vow to one day buy three curly wigs(a pink, a blue, and a white)in this one style to dress up in every day (I have straight black hair).
Clothing does more then make you feel confident. It tells a lot about your personality, about your tastes, about your ability in color and accessory coordinating. It allows you to change your face, imagine living a life as another person. It allows you to explore multiple facets of your personality, to magnify the smaller parts you might be shy of.
What should you expect from this blog?
-Quirky pieces of clothing, a combination of both consumer level items(Forever 21 is love) and high end brands(Alex McQueen, YSL, Loubous are some of my favorite shoe brands).
-Clothing that is impractical, and I will ask, where would you wear something like this?
-Clothing for specific occasions: cocktail parties, banquets, galas, balls, professional events, personal outtings, etc
-Imaginative descriptions of how a particular piece or pieces make me feel(For ex, I wrote a blog once about how wearing floral dresses in Houston is important to me given the horrible summer weather. Floral pieces just make me feel feminine and a sense of inner "coolness," as in less-hot. Cotton frocks are breathable, versatile, and fashionable.)
