I saw this picture a few months ago and fell in love with this dress. I couldn't find it on www.dorothyperkins.com at the time so I looked around in stores. I found a very pretty darker navy one, with some orange flowers, made of thick cotton and an excellent bodice for around $120 @ Off Fifth Avenue. But here is the dress on DP(after the jump) and a few other things from the site I really like.

I can't tell you the price, it's in pounds or euros. But look here.

The dress is actually a little cream, with darker blue. But still beautiful.

I am interested in buying this for an upcoming banquet at my school.
It's around $100.

Websites I really like now--

ASOS is one of my favorite sites. All British sites, a breath of fresh air.

More later.

I found this on My Wardrobe(www.my-wardrobe.com) a couple of months ago.
It's by Jasmine Di Milo, priced at $771. Introduced me to her line, and she's perfect for cocktail dress.

It's also available in black.

What do I love about this dress?

First and foremost, the color. It is such a vibrant, light copper orange. It's silk, so the color adds to the whole feel of the dress. Just by looking at it, it seems soft and sensual. I absolutely love this shade, it's the first thing that caught my eye.

[Accessories, Shoes, Dress, after Jump]

Second, the shape. The guideline is, the younger you are, the bigger bows you should wear. I think this dress aptly suits this guide, whether someone is in their 20s, 30s, or 40s. The bow gives structure to the top half of the dress, and still allows this piece to be a showcase for the decolletage, toned shoulders and arms, a great statement necklace or drop earrings.

The handkerchief bottom is another plus. Apt to show off the legs and a nice pair of heels.

Here is an image from My Wardrobe of the dress, styled.

I posted a facebook note about this.
This piece, by Agent Provocateur, in their "Seasons of the Witch" line, has got me obsessed.

As seen on Daisy Lowe(Do I spy YSL Tribute Mary Janes? My dream shoes!)

As seen on Christina Ag.(I think Louboutin boots)

As seen on Katy Perry in Esquire, the first time I saw this item.
She looks super hot.

If the price tag was way lower, $350 on the AP site, I'd buy it and wear it with striped leggings or leather/PVC leggings/pants on a fun evening out. Or black bubble silk shorts with sheer black leggings. A gold bangle here and there, and an eye-catching necklace.

Or to a party with close friends, just because they'd be used to an eccentric style.

Is there ever an excuse to wear a leotard in public? I'm very tiny, maybe it wouldn't look as short on me?

I'm very interested in fashion, beyond wearing items at local stores from day to day. What I love is the artistic venture involved in creating and wearing different pieces, whether it's shoes, shorts, dresses, etc.

In saying that, my musings tend to deal with couture and high fashion, or high end labels. Thus there is no way I have a Carrie Bradshaw shoe closet. But even then, I only own a couple of pairs of tshirts and two pairs of jeans, and some meager tops and jackets.

I do have around 20 pairs of shoes, generally the most "creative" heels found in mass-production stores, or high-fashion inspired shoes.

In college, I will update my wardrobe to reflect my tastes and personalities. But I lack the income and ability to even make the most minor changes right now.
My sense of style, not reflected in my day-to-day wear?

I hate horizontal lines, and I love clean lines and designs. I love bright colors, but I tend to stick with versatile earth tones, pastels, and pale shades. Dresses are my favorite pieces of clothing, followed by heels. I am not a big fan of accessories, but I love sunglasses and I will have a collection of them when I get older.

I also do not like a lot of layering or wearing many things- I prefer understated elegance and feminine styles. Minimal design is amazing to me, be it art, architecture, or an evening gown.

As far as my taste goes, the cut of the clothing should be well-fitting. I have an hourglass figure- especially top heavy, so I can't wear a lot of things that are in the market. I have some weight loss goals as I have gotten out of shape since junior year(now I am a senior), but that's just something I should say.

I do love curvy figures, and clothes that reflect that in a classy way are great.
I also enjoy vintage inspired clothing, not those in the boho vein, but classic cuts, prints, and designs.

My taste is a little bit of everything, because while I see the universality of a little shift dress, small designers and labels with punky and edgy designs are my second home. I love quirky dress, and I vow to one day buy three curly wigs(a pink, a blue, and a white)in this one style to dress up in every day (I have straight black hair).

Clothing does more then make you feel confident. It tells a lot about your personality, about your tastes, about your ability in color and accessory coordinating. It allows you to change your face, imagine living a life as another person. It allows you to explore multiple facets of your personality, to magnify the smaller parts you might be shy of.

What should you expect from this blog?
-Quirky pieces of clothing, a combination of both consumer level items(Forever 21 is love) and high end brands(Alex McQueen, YSL, Loubous are some of my favorite shoe brands).
-Clothing that is impractical, and I will ask, where would you wear something like this?
-Clothing for specific occasions: cocktail parties, banquets, galas, balls, professional events, personal outtings, etc
-Imaginative descriptions of how a particular piece or pieces make me feel(For ex, I wrote a blog once about how wearing floral dresses in Houston is important to me given the horrible summer weather. Floral pieces just make me feel feminine and a sense of inner "coolness," as in less-hot. Cotton frocks are breathable, versatile, and fashionable.)
-My latest purchases
-My favorite cosmetics
-Analysis of NY, Paris, Milan, London, etc Fashion Weeks and runways
-Bits about small designers and lines that I really love
-Trends I adore, trends I hate
-Fashion icons & celebrities, as it pertains to their style and their looks
